WASHINGTON: A invoice has been launched by US Republican Congressman Andy Biggs to terminate Pakistan’s designation as a serious non-NATO ally.
Currently, there are 17 Major non-NATO allies
The invoice to take away Pakistan’s particular standing, which permits entry to US defence provides and participation in cooperative defence analysis and improvement programmes.
Pakistan was given the designation as a serious non-NATO ally throughout the Bush administration in 2004.
The invoice has been referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The Economic Times reported that this new invoice will even ask the president to certify that Pakistan has proven progress with the intention to arrest and prosecute senior leaders and mid-level operatives of the Haqqani Network in Pakistan.
