NAB approaches LHC to cancel Maryam Nawaz's bail in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case

LAHORE: The Nationwide Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday filed a petition with the Lahore Excessive Courtroom (LHC) in search of the cancellation of the bail granted to PML-N chief Maryam Nawaz within the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

The petition has been scheduled for a listening to on Tuesday (March 15) and can be heard by a two-member bench headed by Justice Sarfaraz Dogar.

NAB within the plea advised the court docket the PML-N chief taken “undue benefit” of the bail and claimed that she can be not cooperating with its investigations.

“Despite being released on bail, Maryam Nawaz is not cooperating with NAB in the investigations,” learn the petition filed by NAB.

The accountability watchdog advised the court docket that the PML-N chief was requested to submit paperwork associated to the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case on January 10 of final yr.

It added that regardless of sending the summons the PML-N chief didn’t obtain any response and neither did she submit the requested paperwork.

NAB then stated that, after her failure to submit the paperwork, it had summoned Maryam to seem in individual on August 11 of final yr.

It alleged that, on that day, the PML-N chief used her political energy and attacked the NAB places of work.

The bureau added {that a} separate case had been registered towards the PML-N chief over the incident.

The watchdog claimed that the PML-N chief’s unwillingness to seem earlier than it was inflicting obstruction within the case.

The plea went on to say that ever since Maryam bought her bail she has been attacking state establishments.

It added that the PML-N chief was issuing statements towards state establishments on digital and social media.

“Maryam Nawaz is doing propaganda against state institutions,” stated NAB, arguing that “through her tactics” she is giving the general public an impression that state establishments have failed.

“Maryam Nawaz is making deliberate statements to tarnish the image of state institutions,” it added.

NAB has named Maryam Nawaz and the inside ministry as respondents within the case and appealed to the court docket to cancel bail.

In November 2019, the LHC had granted bail to Maryam within the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

On the time, the NAB prosecutor had opposed the PML-N chief’s plea, which Maryam had filed after her father Nawaz Sharif was hospitalised in important situation.
