The commodity is being bought from Rs90-95 within the port metropolis’s retail market, the sources stated.

Meanwhile, residents, lashing out on the authorities, termed the surge as its “failure”.

Hike by Rs5 two days in the past

Two days in the past, sugar costs rose by Rs5 per kilogramme.

The improvement got here after Prime Minister Imran Khan praised his financial group for bringing down the value of sugar to Rs81 per kg just a few days in the past.

The worth of sugar per kg went up in all main cities of the nation, together with Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Multan, and Faisalabad.

A 100kg sugar sack was bought for Rs8,300 in Karachi’s wholesale market. Thus, it was out there at Rs83 per kg. Moreover, within the retail market, sugar was bought for Rs90 per kg.

According to sources, sugar costs went up by Rs11 per kg inside a month. In some areas of Karachi, the sweetener was being bought for Rs100 per kg.

In Lahore, sugar was out there for Rs85-90 per kg, whereas in Quetta, residents have been compelled to purchase sugar for Rs90 per kg. The similar sugar was out there at Rs80-85 per kg final month.

In Multan and Faisalabad, sugar costs went up from Rs90 to Rs95 per kg.
