Sadiq Sanjrani was elected as chairman Senate for the second time on Friday after defeating Opposition candidate Yousaf Raza Gillani by six votes.
Eight votes forged through the election have been rejected — together with seven in favour of Gillani.
Taking to Twitter, authorities lawmakers congratulated the newly elected chairman of Senate, saying that “Pakistan had won”.
Senator Faisal Javed Khan tweeted in pleasure proper after the consequence was introduced and thanked the folks for praying for the government-backed candidate’s victory.

He hoped that after this election, the members of the Opposition would settle for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s demand to conduct elections by way of open poll.
Federal Minister for Planning and Improvement Asad Umar hoped the newly elected chairman would run the home as effectively as he did in his earlier tenure.

Adviser to Prime Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan stated democracy had been strengthened within the Senate.

In the meantime, the Opposition lawmakers and leaders slammed the federal government and alleged that there was rigging within the elections.
Former federal minister Ahsan Iqbal stated seven votes forged in Yousuf Raza Gillani’s favour have been rejected. Had they not been rejected, he would have gotten 49 votes and defeated Sanjarani, he stated.
PML-N’s Khawaja Saad Rafique stated the Opposition’s majority “had been proved” within the elections because the presiding officer had “rejected seven authentic votes”.
“Congratulations to the democrats and constitutionalists of Pakistan on the PDM’s great victory in the election of chairman Senate,” he stated.
In the meantime, PML-N’s Hina Pervez Butt stated she was shocked after the government-backed candidate defeated Opposition’s Gillani.
“When the state makes it an ego issue, then no one can win,” she lamented.
