ISLAMABAD: Unidentified armed robbers on Thursday plundered a number of autos on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway close to Sheikupura and fled, making it one other incident reported on a serious freeway in a matter of days.

Reports indicated that an unidentified variety of the armed robbers blocked the freeway by throwing timber on the street and looted the passengers.

The robbers additionally fired upon the autos to burst tyres in a bid to cease them.

The incident passed off three kilometres away from the Sheikhupura Interchange on the M-2 Motorway towards Islamabad.

‘Wearing uniform similar to Elite Force’

An eyewitness advised Geo News that the incident passed off between Hiran Minar and Sheikhupura.

The eyewitness, an ambulance driver, mentioned he noticed nearly 20 vehicles halted halfway on the street and hooted the siren in an try to scare the robbers, who, assuming it was police, fled.

The ambulance driver confirmed that the dacoits had thrown timber on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway to cease the autos and had fired on their tyres with Kalashnikov rifles.

They have been garbed in a uniform much like that of the Punjab Police’s Elite Force, he mentioned, including that he honked the siren because the robbers have been looting a motorist from Skardu.
